Braeburn Zone Panels are A2L Ready!

Montgomery, Illinois

In 2020, the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act was enacted into law, which authorizes a 15-year phasedown of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) across of a variety of applications—including HVAC.

Beginning in January 2025, certain refrigerants will no longer be able to be used in new equipment.  The most common replacements are classified by ASHRAE as mildly flammable.

Due to the mildly flammable nature, if a leak is detected, most equipment is designed to shut down compressor call(s) and run the system fan to push air throughout the dwelling.

All Braeburn zone panels are designed to open all dampers when no zones are calling, therefore there is never a case where all zone dampers will be closed.  Therefore, no additional modifications need to be made.

Additionally, Braeburn thermostats with a system fault “L” terminal can be wired to accept a low voltage input from a leak detector causing the thermostat to display a Check System message.
